IIAM Current Criteria:

  • Type 1 diabetes :Pancreas for donors 40 years or less in age with a type 1 disease duration of 10 years or less.
  • Pancreas from any donor 30 years in age or less, with a BMI of less than 30 where the cause of death was related to Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA).
  • Transplant:

1. Pancreas (native and transplanted) from donors any age with a history of type 1 diabetes who has received a pancreas, or pancreas/kidney transplant. Must have a functioning pancreas graft and currently on anti-rejection medications.

2. Liver and native pancreas from donors who were recipients of an islet transplant in the liver. In this event, liver would be accepted regardless of islet graft function and immunosuppression, while the native pancreas would only be accepted if the donors is on anti-rejection medications for the islet transplant.

  • Pancreas from autoantibody positive donors 30 years in age or less, with at least 1 or more autoantibodies, (for those OPOs that screen with nPOD).
  • Pancreas from donors 26 weeks gestation to 10 years in age, non diabetic donors..
  • Lung (right, left or bilateral) and intestinal tract-lung and intestine from donors 26 weeks gestation to 10 years in age, non diabetic donors.
  • Pancreas from donors with a diagnosis of cystic fibrosis, any age.
  • (HOLD) Donors 11-40 years old with a BMI 30 or less, “non-diabetic”.

  • LUNG & INTESTINE Pancreas, lung (right, left or bilateral) and intestinal tract from donors 1 to 10 years in age, non diabetic donors.
  • Pancreas from donors with a diagnosis of cystic fibrosis, any age.
