Combat Wounded Veteran Challenge

Combat Wounded Veteran Challenge-Out of the Clinic & into Adventure

Combat Wounded Veteran Challenge is a 501 3 (c) national nonprofit dedicated assisting American combat wounded and injured veterans through rehabilitative high adventure and therapeutic outdoor challenges.  While on these expeditions, led by other combat wounded veterans, the warriors selflessly volunteer to conduct evidenced based research and case studies in the key areas of traumatic brain injuries, post traumatic stress, orthotics/prosthetics and cardiovascular endurance.  In healing themselves, the warriors help others.

The CWVC Challenge expeditions are physically and psychologically demanding extreme outdoor efforts. These expeditions provide sufficiently arduous, reasonably achievable, and extremely motivational experiences.  While emphasizing teamwork and fostering camraderie, the Challenges are designed to integrate treatment and healing.

The teams are tested mentally and physically in extreme conditions. If the veterans can literally and figuratively “climb a mountain” then the goal of transitioning becomes less daunting and more attainable. The camaraderie of again being part of a team…a mission with objectives…achieving success…gives the veterans the confidence to seek assistance and know they are not alone.  The confidence comes with achievement.

Upon return from the Challenges, the warriors remain committed to helping others by visiting local VA hospitals and speaking to newly injured soldiers.  They become shining examples to comrades that regardless of the circumstances, you can overcome limitations, adversity and distress to lead productive successful civilian lives.

With recovery as the mission, the objective remains leaving no one behind, by focusing on the beneficial rehab and research in non-traditional settings.  CWVC is committed to intercede for our combat wounded and injured veterans where others cease. Our motto reflects this belief that they are "Wounded - Not Conquered".
